Artist's Comments

Trying to get active on dA again, which is hard...

Anyway, fate of Michael, aka ~Solipist! Back when he was adding rockets to anything he could get his hands on, I imagined that this would be how he died, with a huge rocket strapped to his back. A tribute to him and his incredible knack for cheating death!

Emotes are fun to make.
40x40 pixels, 'bout 5KB. May add more to this in the future, dunno yet.
Hopefully it won't turn out to be as static as my preview is right now >_>

Daily Deviation

Given 2007-03-20

:FateofMike: by ~killbear is a great illustration how just a few small frames and single facial expression can convey constant action and high drama. This is an exceptional first emote; here's hoping it's only one in a long line. (Featured by `livius)

haha, great! Simple, yet great exressions.

Thank you, thank you. Pretty happy with it, this being my first attempt and all.

That is awesome for a first emote, mine was... well, let's not go there. Feel free to ask any questions about the artform if you want
:iconkillbear:
What program(s) do you use?
Photoshop and ImageReady don't work well together, atleast not for me.

Yea, I am ps and imageready junkie all the way  (I use cs)

I tried fireworks, and it was lacking in a few areas, I.E. the eraser, and some other things as well  but i know a lot of great artists who use that, and love it. I have yet to try flash, and i do not know about u-lead.
:iconsolipist:
I declare this picture epic.

Interesting emoticon.

The detail and the animation on the fire explosion is really sweet. Its not often that you get such a realistic effect, and in this case it really works.

The other thing that stands out on this is the fact that the right hand, which is closer to the screen, is bigger than the left. I'm not sure if you've deliberately done this, but its really nice seeing some perspective used, something I will be trying out in the future hopefully.

Other than the funny looking face, the fact that you've put in a few new and rarely seen elements into this really makes it a great little emoticon. And for a first attempt that's amazing.

Congratulations on the Daily Deviation, hopefully we'll be seeing more of your work through out the Emoticon Gallery in the not too distant future!

Awesome emote mate, captures the expression well - he really does look scared out of his mind!

Grats on the DD too.
:icondeansboy:
Seems like the way to go.

It's been said above but it's worth repeating, good expressions and good use of perspective. Let's hope it's the first of many :)

Regarding your question to =the-ace-chef, =darkmoon3636 has a poll, [link] , about which programs people are using for emotes. Might be usefull.
